Nabil Bentaleb has officially committed to playing for the Algerian national team. The Tottenham midfielder met with Mohamed Raouraoua, the president of the Algerian Football Federation, and provided a written commitment expressing his desire to represent Algeria, the country of his parents. This announcement was made via a press release on the Federation’s website.
As part of his commitment, Bentaleb will be called up for the training session on March 1 in preparation for the upcoming match against Slovakia on March 5 at the Tchaker stadium in Blida.
Bentaleb’s decision to play for Algeria follows discussions with the national team management staff, including meetings with his parents and close associates. His father expressed that Bentaleb has a strong attachment to Algeria, having been raised in a family that instilled Algerian culture, traditions, and religion in him.
Despite being courted by other national teams, including France and England, Bentaleb has sent a letter confirming his definitive choice to represent Algeria. The Algerian Football Federation will transmit this correspondence to FIFA in the coming days to formalize Bentaleb’s commitment to the Algerian national team.
