Olympique Lyonnais captain Alexandre Lacazette continues to draw attention with his impressive performances, but questions about his future persist as his contract approaches its expiration on June 30, 2025.
Born in Lyon to parents of Guadeloupean descent, Lacazette has long been a symbol of the club’s identity.
His deep ties to Lyon, where he began his youth career in 2003, have not deterred interest from abroad.
Recently promoted Saudi Pro League club Neom are reportedly monitoring his situation closely, aiming to bolster their squad with high-profile signings.
Neom has already secured Saïd Benrahma on loan and is said to be targeting players like Kevin De Bruyne as part of its ambitious project.
Lacazette’s career has been closely intertwined with Lyon. After progressing through the club’s youth system, he made his senior debut in 2010 and went on to score 129 goals in 275 appearances before transferring to Arsenal in 2017.
During his five-year stint in the Premier League, he netted 54 goals and won the FA Cup in 2020.
In 2022, Lacazette returned to Lyon on a free transfer, quickly reestablishing himself as a key player. He scored 31 goals in his first season back and added 22 more in the 2023–2024 campaign.
Despite receiving a lucrative offer from Saudi side Al-Qadsiah last summer, Lacazette chose to remain with Lyon for a third consecutive season.
