Alexander Isak in contention for PSG clash
Alexander Isak is in contention to feature for Liverpool against Paris Saint-Germain, but head coach Arne Slot has made it clear the striker is not yet ready to start the Champions League quarter-final clash.
Isak has only just returned to full training after a long-term injury, and the staff are wary of pushing him too hard too soon.
Speaking at his press conference, Slot confirmed that the Swedish forward will travel and could get minutes from the bench if the game demands it. “Close to a week of team sessions now so he can play a part otherwise I wouldn’t take him. We had talks with the player, the staff, so we thought we couldn’t get a performance out of him now, but not to start. Let’s be clear,” Slot said.
Liverpool are managing Isak’s return carefully, knowing his sharpness and rhythm will only come back with time on the pitch.
His presence, even as an option among the substitutes, gives Slot an extra attacking weapon in what is expected to be a high-intensity knockout tie.
