Alessandro Nesta believes Lamine Yamal is unlike any young player he’s seen in recent years, calling the Barcelona teen “almost inhuman” after his stellar summer with Spain.
The Monza coach, known for his calm presence on and off the pitch, couldn’t hide his admiration as he spoke before his team’s Serie A match with Atalanta.
The 17-year-old winger, who played a vital role in Spain’s Euro 2024 triumph, has taken the football world by storm with his fearless displays for both club and country. Yamal’s recent strike against Inter Milan only added to the growing excitement around him.
Nesta, a World Cup winner and former AC Milan icon, urged fans and pundits not to compare Yamal to his peers. Instead, he called for appreciation of the youngster’s unique style and maturity on the ball.
“You can’t compare him to others because he’s extraordinary, almost inhuman,” Nesta said. “When we compare him to other young players, we just make things more difficult for them.”
Yamal has played 31 games, scored six goals and assisted 12 in La Liga this season.
