Albert Ebossé’s Death Raises New Alarming Questions After Autopsy Findings

Four months after the tragic death of Albert Ebossé, serious doubts are being cast over the official version of events surrounding the incident that shocked African football.

The 24-year-old Cameroonian striker, who was playing for Algerian club JS Kabylie, lost his life on August 4, reportedly after being struck on the head by a projectile — believed to be a piece of slate — as he returned to the dressing room following a home match in Tizi-Ouzou.

However, new revelations have emerged, calling that version into question. Speaking publicly for the first time, Dr. André Mouné — the pathologist who carried out an independent autopsy at the request of Ebossé’s family — has offered a chilling alternative account.

According to Dr. Mouné, the injuries sustained by the player are more consistent with a violent assault that occurred inside the stadium, rather than a single external blow from a thrown object.

“The likely scenario is that he returned alive to the changing rooms in Tizi-Ouzou,” Dr. Mouné explained. “He was immobilized, his left arm was pulled back, and while he was resisting, his shoulder was dislocated. He struggled and received a blow to the skull — specifically to the cranial cap — which caused the bones at the base of the skull to become unstable. This explains the presence of cerebrospinal fluid.”

These findings echo the concerns previously raised by Ebossé’s lawyer, who had already suggested that the striker was the victim of a physical attack, not a freak accident.

The implications of this testimony are significant, potentially turning what was initially reported as a fatal case of fan violence into something far more disturbing — an assault within the club’s own facilities.

Ebossé had been one of JS Kabylie’s standout players and a rising star in African football. His death drew widespread condemnation and led to the temporary suspension of the Algerian league. But now, calls for justice and a full investigation are likely to intensify following the autopsy findings.

The Algerian authorities have yet to respond to the latest claims, but pressure is mounting for a thorough re-examination of the case. For many, the truth about what really happened to Albert Ebossé is still waiting to be uncovered.
