In a bid to secure the services of Moroccan national team captain Romain Saiss, Saudi Arabian club Al-Shabab is actively pursuing the option to exercise the purchase clause from Qatari side Al-Sadd.
French outlet “Foot Mercato” has confirmed Al-Shabab’s keen interest in retaining Saiss and activating the buyout option in his contract with Al-Sadd, considering the notable contributions he has made to the team in the first half of the Saudi season.
According to the same source, the Saudi club’s management is convinced of Saiss’s performance and intends to initiate negotiations with Al-Sadd, the holder of his contract, with the aim of extending his stay.
The Moroccan defender has participated in 13 matches in the “Roshan” league this season, showcasing his versatility and even scoring three goals.
Saiss joined Al-Sadd during the previous summer transfer window and featured alongside the Moroccan international in the King Salman Club Championship in Saudi Arabia.
However, due to the surplus of foreign players, he was subsequently loaned to Al-Shabab.
The negotiation process signifies Al-Shabab’s strategic move to build a competitive squad, recognizing Saiss’s instrumental role in bolstering the team’s defensive capabilities and contributing to their overall performance.
The club’s intent to open discussions with Al-Sadd reflects their commitment to securing the services of the talented Moroccan defender for an extended period.
