Sudanese giants Al Hilal SC have officially parted ways with head coach Florent Ibengé following the expiration of his contract.
The club confirmed the Congolese tactician’s departure in a statement of appreciation signed by Secretary-General Dr. Hassan Ali Issa, bringing an end to a chapter marked by competitive ambition and structural progress.
According to the board, the decision not to extend Ibengé’s contract was mutual, with both parties unable to reach an agreement on new terms.
The club expressed gratitude for the sacrifices and commitment the coach made during his tenure, describing his impact as foundational to the next phase of their sporting project.
“The Board has decided to embark on a new coaching experience, building on the foundations laid by Florent Ibengé,” Dr. Issa noted, while emphasizing the club’s deep respect for the coach’s contributions.
Ibengé’s exit triggered further changes within the technical setup. Fitness coach Mehdi Marzouki, goalkeeper coach Lyd Ben El Hussein, and Ethiopian assistant coach Addis Worku have also left their posts.
In response, the club has appointed Sudanese duo Fathi Basheer “Kabila” and Yasir Kajik as the new fitness and goalkeeper coaches respectively. Both will serve under newly named head coach Khalid Bakhit.
Al Hilal are currently preparing for the Sudan Elite League, which kicks off on July 4. The team recently returned from Mauritania, where they secured the 2024–25 Super D1 title.
The domestic league campaign will be decisive in determining Sudan’s representatives for next season’s CAF interclub competitions.
