Al-Gharafa fans blame Yacine Brahimi for semi-final exit in Emir Cup

Yacine Brahimi, the Algerian international and star player for Al-Gharafa SC, has come under intense criticism from the club’s fans following their elimination from the Emir of Qatar Cup semi-final.

The match, played on Sunday against Qatar SC, ended in a dramatic penalty shootout loss, with Al-Gharafa falling 4-3 after the game had concluded 2-2 in both regular and extra time.

Brahimi, who played the entire match and scored Al-Gharafa’s second goal with a spectacular strike in the 73rd minute, was the focal point of fan frustration.

Despite his contribution to the game, his missed penalties during the match and in the shootout have overshadowed his performance.

The disappointment was palpable among the Al-Gharafa supporters who packed the stands at Al Janoub Stadium.

Their reactions were captured on the “Faz Faz” program aired by Al Kass Sports Channel on Monday, highlighting the anger and frustration directed at Brahimi.

One particularly disgruntled fan was quoted as saying, “Brahimi let us down when it mattered most. His missed penalties cost us a place in the final.

He needs to step up or step out.” Such sentiments were echoed by many others, with chants calling for Brahimi’s departure from the club.

This public outcry comes despite Brahimi’s impressive statistics this season. He has featured in 23 matches across the Qatar Stars League and the Emir Cup, scoring 24 goals and providing 11 assists.

However, the recent semi-final exit has seemingly erased the goodwill generated by his earlier performances.
