Al-Ettifaq files Saudi intellectual property complaint against Al-Ittihad over ‘ITTI’ trademark

Al-Ettifaq have submitted an official complaint against Al-Ittihad concerning the ITTI trademark, known in Arabic as “اتي”.

Al-Ittihad launched the “ITTI” brand two months ago as part of a goal-oriented strategy intended to develop and strengthen the club’s presence.

According to Al-Riyadiyah, Al-Ettifaq believe the name “اتي” has long been associated with the club’s identity among its supporters.

The newspaper reported that Al-Ettifaq’s management provided evidence documenting the name’s use in supporters’ chants, as well as in national teams and media material connected with the club during previous periods.

The club has submitted its complaint to the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property.

Al-Ettifaq say Al-Ittihad’s commercial registration of the “اتي” trademark could affect their future right to benefit from the name and use it on their products and in activities.

On the pitch, Al-Ittihad are second in the Saudi league table with 17 points, one point behind leaders Al-Hilal.

Al-Ettifaq are ninth with 11 points.
