Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly appear to have clarified its position regarding a possible acquisition of Hakim Ziyech, the former Chelsea winger, as the FIFA Club World Cup approaches.
The Egyptian club is set to compete against notable teams, including Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami, FC Porto, and Palmeiras in the revamped tournament scheduled for next year in the United States.
Following last week’s draw, there has been a surge of speculation linking Al Ahly with high-profile players to bolster their squad for this global event.
Earlier reports included Cristiano Ronaldo among the names considered, but club officials have dismissed these rumors.
Currently, Ziyech, who plays for Galatasaray, has emerged as a potential target. However, sources indicate that Al Ahly is not keen on pursuing the Moroccan international.
The club reportedly finds Ziyech’s annual salary of €2.8 million to be beyond their financial limits, leading them to forgo negotiations for the 31-year-old forward, who has 64 caps for his national team.
