Tarek Suleiman, the former goalkeeping coach of Al Ahly, emphasized the crucial nature of the club’s acquisition of Mahmoud Al-Zanfali, especially following the injury sustained by Mohamed El-Shennawy during his participation with the national team in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Speaking in a television interview, Tarek Suleiman stated, “Choosing Al-Zanfali was highly successful given the team’s circumstances.
I personally brought him into Al Ahly’s ranks, insisted on his inclusion, and he delivered impressive performances.
Last season, he didn’t play much due to the signing of Mohamed Abu Jabal.”
He continued, “During the current season, he has shown exceptional form, having previously played with Al Ittihad Alexandria against Tunisia’s Esperance, indicating that he has gained significant experience.
He will be a strong competitor among Al Ahly’s goalkeepers in the upcoming period.”
Tarek Suleiman explained, “Essam El-Hadary, one of the legends of goalkeeping, conceded about 40 goals in his early career but later excelled, making a great impact.
Mohamed El-Shennawy joined Al Ahly in 2015, faced severe criticism initially, and encountered difficulties, but over time, he became the best.”
Suleiman pointed out that Mostafa Mekhlouf is an exceptionally talented goalkeeper and represents the future of Al Ahly in goalkeeping.
