Al Ahly wrapped up their Capital of Egypt Cup campaign with a disappointing 2-1 loss to Pharco in Group C’s final round at Al Salam Stadium on Thursday.
Fielding a side blended with youth and a few senior figures like Ali Maaloul and Khaled Abdel Fattah, Al Ahly couldn’t avoid their third straight defeat and finished bottom with no points.
Pharco, under coach Ahmed Khattab, started strong and were rewarded early when Abdul Rahman Al-Ashri’s cross slipped past Al Ahly’s defense in the 16th minute. Amr Nasser then doubled Pharco’s lead with a brilliant overhead strike that left the crowd stunned.
Though Al Ahly responded after the break, with Mohammed Reza pulling one back following a precise assist from Maaloul, the Cairo giants couldn’t complete the comeback. Substitutions aimed at lifting their play including appearances by Saif Ayman and Adam Samir added spark but not results.
Pharco’s keeper Mohamed Nadeem stayed alert to deny late efforts, and despite a missed header from Al Ahly, the score stood. Both sides exit the tournament, with Enppi and Tala’a Al Jaish progressing.
