Marcel Koeller, the head coach of Al Ahly, has excluded 11 players from the team’s lineup for the match against Young Africans Tanzanian today in the African Champions League.
The excluded players include Mohamed El Shenawy, Mahmoud El Zanfaly, Khaled Abdel Fattah, Omar Kamal, Mahmoud Metwally, Yasser Ibrahim, Mahmoud Kahraba, Ahmed Abdel Kader, Aliou Dieng, Christo, and Karim Nedved.
The Swiss coach has named 21 players for the squad, including:
Goalkeepers: Mostafa Shobier, Hamza Alaa, Mustafa Makhlouf.
Defenders: Mohamed Hani, Akram Tawfik, Mohamed Abdel Moneim, Ramy Rabia, Ali Maaloul, Karim El Deeb.
Midfielders: Amr El Solia, Marwan Attia, Emam Ashour, Hussein El Shahat, Percy Tau, Karim Fouad, Mohamed Magdi Afsha, Reda Slim, Tahir Mohammed Tahir, Ahmed Nabil Koka.
Forwards: Antoine Modeste, Wisam Abu Ali.
The squad sees the return of Ahmed Nabil Koka after several weeks of absence due to an injury sustained during the national team’s camp before the recent African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Yesterday evening, Thursday, Al Ahly concluded its preparations for the match against Young Africans Tanzanian, which will take place, on Friday, in the African Champions League.
The team had its final training session at the Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium on the island, where media outlets were allowed to attend the first 15 minutes of the session following African Union regulations.
The pre-match meeting agreed that Al Ahly would wear their traditional kit consisting of a red shirt, white shorts, and red socks, while the goalkeeper would wear the full blue kit.
Meanwhile, Young Africans will wear yellow shirts, and black shorts, and their goalkeeper will wear the full purple kit.
Al Ahly will face Young Africans at 6 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, at the Cairo Stadium, in the final round of the group stage of the African Champions League.
The Al Ahly club has set 11 a.m. on March 6th as the time to travel to Saudi Arabia to play against Zamalek, scheduled for the same month 8th in the final of the Egypt Cup.
The coaching staff of Al Ahly has decided on two training sessions in Saudi Arabia in preparation for the Cup final, which is being held outside Egypt for the first time.
