Al Ahly targets Zamalek’s Ahmed Mostafa Zizo with formal bid
Al Ahly’s leadership has set its sights on securing Zamalek’s standout player Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, a 29-year-old whose contract with the White Castle nears its end this season.
The move signals a bold step in the Cairo rivalry as Al Ahly looks to bolster its squad.
A private source told Kooora on Friday that Al Ahly held off until late February before reaching out. They contacted Zizo’s father through an intermediary to gauge the player’s stance on staying with Zamalek.
The source explained, “The message that reached Al-Ahly officials is that Zizo welcomes playing for the team. He has not renewed his contract with Zamalek yet, and he currently has no official offers from his club.”
He added, “Zizo and his father’s agreement to negotiate with Al-Ahly is primarily due to Al-Ain’s withdrawal from the deal, in addition to Zizo’s father’s desire for his son to move to Al-Ahly.”
Talks are heating up, with Al Ahly readying a five-year offer, complete with a contract advance funded by a devoted fan. The proposal awaits final approval from club president Mahmoud El Khatib, who is currently on Umrah.
