Al Ahly are keeping a close watch on Moroccan striker Oussama Lamlioui as they search for a new forward, but the deal is far from simple.
The Egyptian giants are determined to strengthen their attack in the winter transfer window after the departure of Palestinian striker Wessam Abu Ali to Columbus Crew in the United States.
A source told Kooora that Al Ahly’s scouting department has been following the African Nations Championship closely and highlighted Lamlioui as a strong option. The RS Berkane striker was a standout performer last season, helping his team win both the Confederation Cup and the Moroccan League.
“Oussama Lamlioui is currently under close monitoring by Al-Ahly scouts, but no direct negotiations have taken place with the player or his club yet,” the source said.
Despite his qualities, the move faces hurdles. Some within Al Ahly’s planning committee are reluctant. Concerns center on his age, as he turns 30 next January, and his lack of professional experience outside Morocco.
