Mohamed Shawky, sporting director of Egyptian giants Al Ahly, has raised concerns over the late-night announcement of the final Premier League fixtures, suggesting a lack of transparency from the Club Association.
Speaking on Al Ahly’s official channel, Shawky voiced his frustration over the timing and manner of the announcement, arguing that it casts doubts over the fairness of the scheduling process.
“This time in Ramadan is dedicated to night prayers, not for releasing match schedules,” he stated.
Shawky also criticized the absence of club representatives in the draw, questioning the claim that artificial intelligence determined the fixtures.
“The timing and arrangement of matches suggest something isn’t right… The association is responsible for this perception, especially since club delegates weren’t even invited, whether in person or virtually,” he said.
He went on to highlight the significance of Al Ahly’s upcoming clashes against Zamalek and Pyramids, acknowledging that victories in those games could provide a major boost in the title race.
Shawky also urged Al Ahly fans to maintain sportsmanship during the high-stakes Zamalek showdown, warning that any misconduct could lead to penalties affecting attendance for the crucial Pyramids fixture.
