Al Ahly have confirmed the signing of 23-year-old striker Marwan Othman from Ceramica Cleopatra on loan until the end of the current season, adding fresh firepower to Jess Thorup’s attacking options.
The move was finalised after the forward successfully completed his medical and signed all contracts on Wednesday.
As part of the deal, Al Ahly agreed to send duo Omar Kamal and Mohamed Abdallah to Ceramica Cleopatra on loan for the remainder of the campaign. Othman has already joined up with his new teammates and took part in Wednesday’s training session at Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium, as the African champions prepare to face Young Africans of Tanzania on Friday in the third round of the CAF Champions League group stage.
Othman is Al Ahly’s second officially announced winter signing after goalkeeper Hamza Alaa. The club has also reached agreements to bring in Moroccan left-back Youssef Belamri and defender Amr El Jazzar as part of a broader mid-season squad refresh.
Al Ahly introduced their new striker to fans with a creative presentation, showing him on a phone call using the number 2026 from inside El-Tetsh, a nod to future ambitions.
A product of Ceramica Cleopatra’s youth academy, Othman previously spent time on loan at Talaea El Gaish before returning to his parent club in 2023, and he has one senior cap for Egypt in a friendly against Uzbekistan.
