Al Ahly have taken steps to support the national team by sending detailed medical reports on two of their key players.
The club’s medical staff provided the Egyptian national team with updates on Imam Ashour and Marwan Attia as the Pharaohs prepare for crucial African qualifiers against Ethiopia and Burkina Faso.
“Ibrahim Hassan, the Pharaohs’ manager, contacted Mohamed Youssef, Al Ahly’s sporting director, to check on the status of Marawan Attia and Imam Ashour, before the start of the national team’s camp,” a source told Kooora.
He added that Mohamed Youssef informed Ibrahim Hassan that Emam Ashour would participate in training, but without any contact.
The reports were shared so national team coach Hossam Hassan can make an informed decision on the call-up of the two players. For Al Ahly, this was about cooperation and ensuring clarity, while for the Pharaohs, it was about maintaining their push in the World Cup qualifiers.
Egypt currently leads its group with 16 points, strengthening hopes of making the 2026 finals.
