Al Ahly set to decide on future of Morocco winger Achraf Bencharki
Egyptian powerhouse Al Ahly SC are keeping a close watch on Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki as the club deliberates over his future ahead of a decisive summer.
Despite being tied to the Red Devils until 2027, Bencharki has been placed “under evaluation” by the club’s hierarchy, with a final decision expected at the end of the current campaign.
Africasoccer.com has learnt that the Egyptian giants will only keep the former Morocco international if he manages to impress before the closure of the current campaign.
The timing is critical. With their hopes in continental and domestic cup competitions already dashed—following exits from the CAF Champions League, Egyptian Cup, and Cairo Cup—Al Ahly’s focus is now solely on the Egyptian Premier League title race. Just six matches remain for the Cairo giants to salvage silverware this season.
Bencharki, who joined Al Ahly in January 2025 on a free transfer after leaving Al-Rayyan SC, now finds himself at a crossroads. Brought in with high expectations, the winger has yet to fully cement his place as a decisive figure within the squad.
However, the door is not entirely closed. Club insiders indicate that a standout run in the remaining fixtures could force a rethink within Al Ahly’s management, potentially earning Bencharki a lifeline and a continued stay at the club.
With the league title on the line and his future hanging in the balance, the coming weeks could define Bencharki’s fate in Cairo—turning every appearance into a high-stakes audition.
