Al Ahly set for major shake-up as Ahmed Shobeir nears exit

Al Ahly is preparing for a major shift in its media direction as the future of Ahmed Shobeir, one of the most familiar faces on the club’s channel, hangs in the balance.

The celebrated host, who has fronted the main program since October 2024, is just weeks away from the end of his contract, and signs point to a split.

The club’s management is leaning strongly towards not renewing Shobeir’s deal. His current contract runs out in a month, and both sides appear ready to move on.

A club insider told Kooora that Al Ahly’s management believes the situation has become difficult, noting that Ahmed Shobeir also wants to stop working with the club.

“Mahmoud El Khatib, the club’s president, is scheduled to hold a meeting with Ahmed Shobeir in the next few days to resolve the situation once and for all,” the source added.

The source explained that there is a state of mutual anger between the two parties, both the club’s management and Ahmed Shobeir, which reinforces the broader trend towards not renewing the contract.
