Al Ahly’s football management has taken a precautionary step before young star Hamza Abdelkarim travels to join Barcelona on loan.
The two clubs agreed on a 6‑month loan deal with an option to buy for 1.8 million euros, reflecting the winger’s growing value and potential.
A source explained to Kooora that “FIFA regulations govern player contracts, especially in youth sectors. Al Ahly always works to protect its youngsters by signing contracts until the player turns 18, which are signed by their guardian.” The source added that there is another contract that becomes active once the player reaches legal age and signs it personally.
Hamza turned 18 on January 1, which automatically activated his own signed contract with Al Ahly and allowed Barcelona to enter formal negotiations with the club. The source clarified that what happened recently was a financial adjustment to the original deal, to suit the player’s status in case he returns from Europe and does not continue with Barcelona.
Hamza is scheduled to travel to Barcelona in mid-January to join the reserve team on loan, amid reports that Al Ahly’s contract with him runs for three more years.
