Al Ahly request foreign referees for Zamalek and Pyramids FC matches

Al Ahly have asked for foreign referees for their upcoming Egyptian Premier League matches against Zamalek and Pyramids FC, with the Egyptian Football Association receiving the request through the Egyptian Clubs Association on Tuesday.

The association received a letter from the Egyptian Clubs Association on Tuesday evening concerning Al Ahly’s request to appoint overseas officials for both matches.

Al Ahly had submitted its own letter to the Egyptian Clubs Association earlier on Tuesday, formally asking for foreign referees to take charge of the two fixtures.

The Egyptian Football Association does not object to the request and is willing to implement it, according to information obtained by FilGoal.com.

The move comes 40 days before Al Ahly’s meeting with Zamalek, which is scheduled for Sunday, 11 October, in the sixth round of the league. Al Ahly will then face Pyramids FC on 23 November in the ninth round.

The two matches are among the fixtures for which Al Ahly has requested foreign match officials. The request was first made by the club before being passed to the Egyptian Football Association by the Egyptian Clubs Association.

No decision beyond the association’s stated willingness to accept the request has been detailed. The correspondence between the three parties has established the process through which Al Ahly’s proposal is being considered.

Al Ahly are currently preparing for their next Egyptian Premier League match against Smouha, which will be played on Thursday in the third round.

They began their league campaign with victories over ZED and Eastern Company before the Smouha fixture.

The request for foreign referees therefore covers two matches later in the season, while Al Ahly’s immediate focus remains on Thursday’s meeting with Smouha. The club’s first two league results came against ZED and Eastern Company, and their match against Pyramids FC will follow the derby against Zamalek in the competition schedule.

The Egyptian Football Association’s response means there is no opposition from the governing body to Al Ahly’s proposal. The request has been received officially, first from the club to the Egyptian Clubs Association and then from the association to the Egyptian Football Association.

Al Ahly’s match with Zamalek is set to take place in the sixth round on Sunday, 11 October. Their fixture against Pyramids FC is scheduled for the ninth round on 23 November.
