Al Ahly request foreign referees for الزمالك and Pyramids matches

Al Ahly have asked the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association to arrange foreign referees for their upcoming Egyptian Premier League matches against الزمالك and Pyramids, with the Egyptian Football Association understood to have no objection to the request.

The club has submitted an official letter to the league organisers, asking them to secure referees from outside Egypt through the Egyptian Football Association for both fixtures. The request concerns Al Ahly’s meetings with the two clubs later in the league schedule.

Al Ahly are due to face الزمالك in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League on Sunday, 11 October. Their match against Pyramids is scheduled for the ninth round on 23 November.

The Egyptian Football Association does not oppose Al Ahly’s request, according to information obtained by FilGoal.com. The final arrangements for appointing the officials will therefore be handled through the relevant football authorities.

The move comes as Al Ahly prepare for their next league fixture, against Smouha on Thursday. That match will be played in the third round of the competition, with the club seeking to maintain its perfect start to the campaign.

Al Ahly have won both of their opening two league matches. Their victories came against ZED and ENPPI, leaving them with maximum points from the first two games.

The club’s request is specifically focused on the two fixtures against الزمالك and Pyramids, which are among the most prominent matches identified in Al Ahly’s early league schedule. The الزمالك game is set to take place in October, while the meeting with Pyramids will follow in November.

Al Ahly have formally addressed the Egyptian Professional Clubs Association rather than making a public appointment request directly to the refereeing department. Under the proposed arrangement, foreign officials would be brought in through the Egyptian Football Association to oversee both matches.

There has been no indication that the fixtures themselves will be moved. The current dates remain Sunday, 11 October for the match against الزمالك and 23 November for the game against Pyramids.

For now, Al Ahly’s immediate priority is Thursday’s meeting with Smouha. The club began the season with wins over ZED and ENPPI and will attempt to make it three victories from three before turning its attention to the later fixtures involving الزمالك and Pyramids.

The request does not represent a change to Al Ahly’s scheduled opponents or the rounds in which the matches will be played. It is instead a request concerning the officials who will take charge of those games, with the Egyptian Football Association having indicated that it has no objection to the club’s proposal.
