Al Ahly is taking steps to protect its future by keeping faith in important squad members.

The club’s board, led by president Mahmoud El Khatib, has approved plans to renew the contracts of three players as the team prepares for the coming fixtures.

A source told Kooora, that El Khatib, together with the planning committee and football director Walid Salah El Din, has agreed to open renewal talks with Ahmed Nabil Kouka, Ahmed Abdel Qader, and Hussein El Shahat.

The source pointed out that El Shahat’s situation remains under watch, especially with interest from Al Ittihad of Libya. He explained: “Al-Ahly postponed deciding on Hussein El-Shahat’s position due to the injury that struck winger Ahmed Mostafa Zizo, who suffered a strained adductor muscle during the last match against Enppi.”

The club has also decided that extensions for Imam Ashour and Marawan Attia will not be considered until the end of the year.

Al Ahly now turns attention to their league clash against Ceramica Cleopatra tomorrow evening in the seventh round of the Egyptian Premier League.
