Al Ahly are moving to secure rising star Mahmoud Salah as part of their long-term squad strategy.
The Egyptian giants have begun talks to sign the Ghazl El Mahalla forward, who has impressed this season and caught the attention of club officials after strong performances with the youth side and a promotion to the senior team in the Capital of Egypt Cup.
“Walid Soliman, the club’s director of the youth sector, recommended Mahmoud Salah to the planning committee, which reviewed him and recommended signing him,” an Al Ahly source told Kooora.
“Al Ahly has already started negotiations to sign Mahmoud Salah, and spoke with Ghazl Al Mahalla president Walid Khalil, who asked for a period of time before responding to Al Ahly officials.”
Club officials are keen to build a strong base of young, high-potential players, and Salah has emerged as a clear target.
Al Ahly hope to finalise the deal in the upcoming summer window to prepare for the next phase of their project.
