Al Ahly will travel to Uganda without Aktai Abdullah, Yasser Ibrahim and Karim El Debes for Saturday’s Confederation Cup match against Kitara.
Head coach Hussein Amouta has excluded Abdullah from the squad for the second preliminary round first leg for technical reasons, according to Al Ahly football director Wael Gomaa.
“Ajtai Abdullah has been left out of Al Ahly’s travelling squad for the match against Kitara for technical reasons,” Gomaa told FilGoal.com.
He added: “Yasser Ibrahim will also be absent because of suspension, while Karim El Debes is unavailable because he is not yet ready.”
The match in Uganda is the first of two meetings in the second preliminary round of the Confederation Cup. The winner of the tie will qualify directly for the group stage.
Abdullah joined Al Ahly from ENPPI and has made three appearances in the Egyptian Premier League, all as a substitute. He has not scored or provided an assist in those matches.
Ibrahim is serving a two-match suspension imposed by the African federation following Al Ahly’s match against Esperance last season. The defender is therefore unavailable for the trip to Uganda.
El Debes remains in rehabilitation after suffering an injury that has kept him out of recent matches. His absence means Al Ahly will be without three players for the opening leg.
The first match will be broadcast by On Sport. Al Ahly’s return fixture in Egypt will be shown exclusively by the Al Ahly channel.
Al Ahly enter the Confederation Cup after finishing third in the Egyptian Premier League last season. They began the current league campaign with a 2-0 victory over Zamalek in the sixth round.
