Al Ahly injury update: Koka given four-day break as Mohamed Abdullah begins rehabilitation

Al Ahly doctor Ahmed Gaballah has provided an update on the injuries affecting midfielders Ahmed Nabil “Koka” and Mohamed Abdullah.

Koka has been given four days away from the physiotherapy programme he is following for severe lower-back pain, according to Gaballah.

“Ahmed Nabil ‘Koka’ has been given a four-day rest from the physiotherapy programme he is undergoing because of severe pain in the lower back,” Al Ahly’s doctor said in a statement published on the club’s website.

Gaballah also confirmed that Mohamed Abdullah is recovering from a hamstring strain and has started a treatment and rehabilitation programme.

“Mohamed Abdullah is suffering from a strain in the hamstring. He has begun carrying out the treatment and rehabilitation programme to recover from the injury,” he added.

Both players are members of the Al Ahly squad. The club has not stated how long either player is expected to be unavailable beyond the four-day break granted to Koka.

An Al Ahly source previously said the team would have four days off before returning to training on Thursday at the club’s headquarters in Gezira.

The break follows Al Ahly’s 3-0 victory over Al Sekka Al Hadid in the last 32 of the Egyptian Cup. The match was played at Cairo International Stadium, with Ahmed Sayed “Zizo” scoring twice and Omar El Sاعي adding the other goal.

Al Ahly will next face Petrojet in the last 16 of the competition.

The club will then resume its Egyptian Premier League campaign after the international break with a match against Pyramids.

That fixture, in the ninth round of the Egyptian Premier League, is scheduled for 23 November 2026 at Cairo International Stadium. Kick-off is set for 20:00.

Pyramids currently lead the league standings with 24 points, while Al Ahly are second on 20 points.
