Al Ahly injury update ahead of Egyptian League clash with Zamalek

Al Ahly will be without Karim El Debes for Sunday’s Egyptian League meeting with Zamalek, while the availability of defender Yasser Ibrahim remains uncertain.

The sixth-round fixture is the next league match for Al Ahly, who will first face Asyut Petroleum in the Egypt League Cup on Wednesday.

Ahmed Nabil Koka is expected to recover in time to feature against Zamalek after overcoming his injury. However, El Debes has been ruled out of the derby because of his injury.

Ibrahim is at the final stage of his rehabilitation, but a decision on his involvement has not yet been made. His chances of playing will depend on his physical and technical readiness after completing his medical recovery.

Al Ahly’s coaching staff have focused in recent training sessions on preparing Ashraf Dari, Yassin Marei and Hady Riyad as defensive options. Ahmed Reda also played at centre-back during the friendly match against Misr El-Makkasa.

The club are currently third in the Egyptian League table with 13 points. They trail second-placed Zamalek only on goal difference, while leaders Pyramids are two points ahead.
