Al Ahly have identified three potential replacements for head coach Jess Thorup following a dip in form and the team’s elimination from the CAF Champions League at the quarter-final stage by Esperance of Tunisia.

According to a source, the Danish tactician will remain in charge of the Egyptian giants until the end of the season, but will be replaced before the next football season.

It is understood that Al Ahly have already shortlisted three local candidates as possible successors. They include Emad El-Nahhas, Ali Maher, and Hossam El-Badry.

While Ali Maher and Emad El Nahhas are open to the role, the situation surrounding Hossam El-Badry remains uncertain.

A source has noted that Ali Maher and Emad El Nahhas have no objection, but as for Hossam El Badry, the matter is not settled.

Meanwhile, club president Mahmoud El Khatib recently held a meeting with Yassin Mansour and Sayed Abdel Hafeez, during which he distanced himself from the club’s winter transfer dealings.

He stated at the meeting that he would not be involved in future signings, granting officials full authority over recruitment decisions.
