Al Ahly, Egypt’s football powerhouse, has locked in April 5 as the departure date for its journey to Mauritania, setting the stage for a thrilling CAF Champions League quarter-final clash against Sudan’s Al Hilal on April 8.
The team is leaving no detail to chance as they prepare for the crucial second leg. Sporting director Mohamed Ramadan finalized the travel plans after huddling with head coach Marcel Koller and his technical team, followed by discussions with deputy sporting director Mohamed Shawky and administrative director Samir Adly.
A source inside Al Ahly told Kooora that Tarek Kandil, a board member, will lead the squad’s mission in Mauritania. Samir Adly is busy sorting out visas and securing a hotel in Nouakchott for the delegation.
To streamline the trip, the club has chartered a private plane. Meanwhile, Adly and Shawky will head out a day early on April 4 to arrange training facilities and iron out logistics.
The first leg kicks off next Tuesday at Cairo Stadium, promising an electric buildup to the return match.
