Al Ahly has taken a bold step by lodging an appeal with the Egyptian Football Association’s Appeals Committee, challenging the rulings from the Clubs Association following the team’s withdrawal from the blockbuster clash with Zamalek on March 11.
A source confirmed to Kooora that the appeal was submitted right on time, within the legal window.
The Egyptian Clubs Association had earlier ruled Al Ahly as losing the match 3-0 to Zamalek, slapping the club with fines tied to sponsorship and broadcasting rights for all games. On top of that, they docked the Red Devils an extra three points, to be subtracted at season’s end.
Al Ahly fired back with a statement slamming the decisions, pinning blame on both the Clubs Association and the Egyptian Football Association, and escalating the matter with a formal complaint to the Egyptian Olympic Committee.
Adding fuel to the fire, Al Ahly lodged a protest with the Supreme Council for Media Regulation, targeting the host of Sada El Balad TV’s “Malab El Balad” for mocking rumored transfer talks involving Zamalek’s standout Ahmed Zizo.
