Al Ahly’s hopes of securing a promising young striker have come to an unexpected halt after an age verification test revealed a major discrepancy.

The club had been in talks to sign Abdullah Al-Sharif, initially believed to be born in 2009, from a corporate team following a trial that impressed the youth sector’s coaching staff.

The trial showcased Al-Sharif’s sharp instincts as a striker, sparking negotiations over a share-based transfer agreement. Terms discussed included a 50,000 Egyptian pound fee, with the same amount paid annually while he remained in his age category. Performance bonuses were also outlined, 100,000 pounds for 20 youth appearances, 500,000 pounds for a first-team promotion within three years, and 1 million pounds for more than 10 senior matches.

Before finalizing the deal, Al Ahly required a bracelet test to confirm his age. Results showed he was born between 2004 and 2005, not 2009 as claimed.

With the findings raising immediate concerns, the Red Devils opted to walk away from the deal. No payments were made, ending what had been a bright start to the player’s potential move.
