Al Ahly downplays offer for Emam Ashour

Egyptian giants Al Ahly have responded to reports linking midfielder Emam Ashour with a potential move to Saudi Arabian side Al Ittihad, insisting that no official offer has been received for the influential player.

Ashour’s future became a subject of speculation following his impressive performances with the Egyptian national team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where he enhanced his reputation as one of the country’s most important midfield talents.

Reports went rife that Al Ittihad had made an approach to sign the 27-year-old, with the Jeddah-based club allegedly submitting an offer worth $6 million to secure his services during the current summer transfer window.

Besides, it was reported Al Ittihad had prepared an attractive financial package for the player, including an annual salary of around $4 million, as they looked to strengthen their squad with one of Africa’s standout midfielders.

However, Al Ahly have moved to dismiss those claims, revealing that the club has not received any formal proposal from the Saudi Pro League side regarding Ashour.

Meanwhile, Al Ahly would not stand in the player’s way should a suitable offer arrive, with the club reportedly prepared to consider a bid in the region of $8 million.

The Egyptian champions currently view Ashour as a key part of their squad, especially after the midfielder’s continued development and his growing importance for both club and country.

Since joining Al Ahly in July 2023 from Danish club FC Midtjylland, Ashour has established himself as one of the team’s most influential players. The Cairo giants secured his signature for a reported fee of around $3 million, believing he could become a long-term asset for the club.

His performances have justified that investment, with the midfielder playing a crucial role in Al Ahly’s domestic and continental campaigns while also becoming a regular figure for the Egyptian national team.

Despite the current rumours, Al Ahly appear determined to retain Ashour unless an offer arrives that reflects his importance and market value.

For now, the player remains part of the club’s plans for the upcoming season, while any future transfer discussions would depend on the arrival of a proposal that meets Al Ahly’s financial expectations.
