Al Ahly’s officials have concluded the winter transfer deals successfully, marking the closure with the acquisition of Mohamed Abu Gebal, the goalkeeper from Al Ahli Bank.
The management of the Red Castles was racing against time to finalize the deal for the new goalkeeper, intending to secure the transfer before the closing of the transfer window by the Confederation of African Football at the end of this month.
Al Ahly’s desire to reinforce the goalkeeper position stemmed from the injury of the team’s captain, Mohamed El Shenawy, during his participation in the Africa Cup of Nations with the Egyptian national team.
El Shenawy is confirmed to be absent from the fields for three months, prompting the need to resolve the goalkeeper issue promptly.
It is expected that Al Ahly’s officials will register Abu Gebal in the African competition before the closure of the winter transfer window by the Confederation of African Football.
The coaching staff is eager to utilize the new goalkeeper in the upcoming CAF Champions League.
Initially in talks with Mohamed Bassam, the goalkeeper of Ceramica, Al Ahly faced complications in negotiations, leading them to shift their focus to securing the deal with Abu Gebal.
The addition of Abu Gebal to Al Ahly’s squad adds depth to their roster, contributing to their ambitions in both domestic and continental competitions.
