Al Ahly are nearing the capture of defender Ahmed Ramadan from Ceramica Cleopatra on a season-long loan, as the club moves swiftly to bolster its backline ahead of the FIFA Club World Cup.
Sources close to the negotiations told Kooora that the deal is in its final stages, with only minor financial terms left to be sorted. The Cairo giants identified Ramadan as the ideal short-term solution following the exit of long-serving defender Ramy Rabia, whose contract expired at the end of the season.
“The club decided to bring in a defender after Ramy Rabia left, especially with the Club World Cup coming up,” a source shared.
Ramadan’s move is expected to be finalized pending the green light from newly appointed coach Jose Riveiro. He is set to evaluate the squad’s defensive depth after the tournament.
The 26-year-old, who previously played for Al Ahly and has caps for Egypt, will offer experience and familiarity during a crucial phase for the Red Devils.
