Al Ahly secured the Egypt Cup championship title after defeating their counterpart Zamalek with a score of 2-0 in the final match held on Friday evening at the “Al-Aoul Park” stadium in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.
This victory further solidifies Al Ahly’s record-breaking dominance in the Egypt Cup, marking their 39th title win in the tournament’s history.
The club now stands 11 titles ahead of Zamalek, who holds the second position with 28 titles to their name.
The first half of the match ended in a goalless draw, with both teams struggling to break the deadlock.
However, it was in the second half that Al Ahly showcased their prowess, with goals from their players Imam Ashour in the 84th minute and Mohamed Magdy Afsha in the 90th minute.
The clash between Al Ahly and Zamalek in the Egypt Cup has been a historic rivalry, with the two teams facing each other thirty-three times in the tournament’s history.
Al Ahly has emerged victorious in sixteen of these encounters, while Zamalek has won eleven matches. Additionally, the teams have drawn six times.
