Al Ahly have turned to their legal department to examine the Appeals Committee’s decision that upheld the club’s 0-3 loss to Zamalek from the 11 March summit clash.
The move comes after the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) rejected the club’s complaint against the verdict that labelled them as having withdrawn from the game.
The Appeals Committee, led by Judge Mohamed Abdo Saleh, stood by the original decision by the League of Clubs, which ruled in favour of Zamalek. Al Ahly were found at fault for not appearing at the stadium, a protest against the appointment of foreign referees.
In addition to dismissing Al Ahly’s protest, the committee also rejected objections from both Zamalek and Pyramids regarding the reversal of a separate decision to deduct three points from Al Ahly’s tally. Although Al Ahly forfeited the match, the league board later overturned the point deduction.
Now, with the legal team set to present their findings to the board soon, the club remains focused on the title race, holding first place with 52 points, just two ahead of Pyramids.
