Al Ahly bring in Egypt defender Tawfik Mohamed after Petrojet switch
Egypt left-back Tawfik Mohamed has joined Al Ahly from Petrojet in a move worth €517,000, giving the Premier League club a new defensive addition for the 2026-27 season.
The 26-year-old defender moves between two Egyptian Premier League sides after spending the past four years at Petrojet. Mohamed joined Petrojet from Ajman Academy on a free transfer in August 2022 and has now completed his next career move with Al Ahly.
Mohamed was a regular for Petrojet during the previous campaign, making 35 Premier League appearances and providing two assists. He played 3,000 minutes in the competition, while also featuring in the Egyptian League Cup, the Relegation Playoff, the Egypt Cup and the Championship Playoff.
The left-footed defender has operated primarily at left-back and will now continue his career with one of Egypt’s leading clubs. His arrival comes as Al Ahly add an experienced domestic player who has accumulated significant playing time in the Egyptian top flight.
Mohamed’s transfer was recorded on 15 August 2026, with the fee higher than his €400,000 market valuation. He leaves Petrojet after establishing himself as a regular presence in their defence and moves to Al Ahly alongside his status as an Egypt international-listed player in domestic competition.
The deal also marks the latest step in a career that began before his arrival at Petrojet, where he spent four seasons after making the move from Ajman Academy. At Al Ahly, he will wear the club’s colours as a 26-year-old defender following a campaign in which he was involved across five domestic competitions.
Tawfik Mohamed has therefore completed his transfer from Petrojet to Al Ahly for €517,000.
