Al Ahly’s preparations for their upcoming CAF Champions League quarter-final clash against Al-Hilal of Sudan next Tuesday are in full swing, but uncertainty persists over the team’s camp plans.
The Red Devils’ technical staff, under Swiss coach Marcel Koller, find themselves tangled in debate as the Eid Al-Fitr holiday complicates scheduling. With the first leg coming up, the clock is ticking for a resolution.
An insider told Kooora that the holiday has generated confusion among the technical staff.
“There are voices who support the need to hold a closed camp 48 hours before the match, but Koller wants to stick to a one-day camp,” the insider side. Adding to the mix, Deputy Sports Director Mohamed Shawky has his own take. “Mohamed Shawky wants the players to spend the first day of Eid Al-Fitr with their families, before entering the camp,” the insider added.
The final call rests with Shawky, who will settle the matter tonight after training alongside Koller.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly resumes group sessions today, bolstered by the return of international and professional stars following a brief 24-hour break.
