Al Ahly’s squad has arrived in Hoima, western Uganda, ahead of Saturday’s CAF Confederation Cup round-of-32 first-leg match against Kitara.

The team delegation, led by board member Sayed Abdel Hafiz, reached the city after a journey which began with a flight from Cairo International Airport at 23:00 on Sunday.

The flight to Entebbe Airport took about five hours. The delegation then continued by coach to Hoima, with the road journey lasting nearly four hours before the squad reached its hotel.

The match will be played in Hoima on Saturday, with Al Ahly beginning their away campaign against Ugandan side Kitara.

The full Al Ahly squad selected for the tie is:

Goalkeepers: Mohamed El Shenawy, Mostafa Shobeir, Hamza Alaa.

Defenders: Mohamed Hany, Ahmed Eid, Karim Fouad, Akram Tawfik, Tawfik Mohamed, Yassin Marei, Hady Riad and Achraf Dari.

Midfielders: Ahmed Reda, Ali Mahmoud, Emam Ashour, Mohamed Magdy “Afsha”, Ahmed Sayed “Zizo”, Hussein El Shahat, Omar Sayed Moawad, Omar El Saai and Marwan Attia.

Forwards: Sofiane Benjedida, Moncef Bekrar, Achraf Bencharki and Taher Mohamed Taha.

The first leg will be broadcast by ON Sport. Al Ahly TV will show the return match in Egypt exclusively.

The winners of the tie will qualify directly for the group stage.

Al Ahly enter the fixture after beating Zamalek 2-0 in the sixth round of the Egyptian Premier League. They qualified for the CAF Confederation Cup after finishing third in last season’s league campaign.

The club will now prepare in Hoima for the first meeting with Kitara, before the tie is decided in the return fixture in Egypt.
