Egyptian football powerhouse Al Ahly reached out to Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly on Wednesday with an urgent request.
The club, known as the Red Giant, asked for the chance to examine the draft amendments to the proposed Sports Law and urged the government to hold a public discussion. Their goal? To ensure the changes align with Egypt’s Constitution, international norms, and the Olympic Charter.
In its letter, Al Ahly praised the Egyptian state’s direction under President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, noting its focus on transparency in decision-making as a vital tool to tackle the nation’s challenges. The club emphasized that involving stakeholders and respecting the roles of general assemblies and sports organizations would showcase Egypt’s leadership in legislative matters, particularly in sports.
Al Ahly added in its letter: “The participation of the concerned parties and the appreciation of the role of general assemblies and sports bodies in this regard confirms Egypt’s leadership in the field of legislation in general, and sports legislation in particular, especially since the amendments proposed to the Cabinet by the Minister of Sports were not available to clubs and sports bodies for unknown reasons.”
