Al-Ahli Saudi’s German coach, Matthias Jaissle, has shed light on the purported disagreement between him and Algerian captain Riyad Mahrez during the derby against Al-Ittihad.
In a fiercely contested match yesterday, Al-Ahli clinched victory over their archrivals with a solitary goal, with Mahrez featuring prominently for the team.
Reports emerging from Saudi media outlets had suggested tension between Jaissle and Mahrez during the game, prompting speculation of a rift between the two.
However, Jaissle swiftly dispelled any such notions during a press conference following the match, asserting, “I will not allow nor do I want to fabricate stories within my team because the relationship with all the players is excellent.”
