Saudi Pro League side Al Ahli are reportedly set to rival Premier League club Newcastle United for the signature of Chelsea’s French defender Axel Disasi in the upcoming summer transfer window.
According to Foot Mercato, the Jeddah-based club has expressed strong interest in signing the 27-year-old centre-back, who impressed during the past season both at Chelsea and on loan at Aston Villa.
Disasi’s form in England has elevated his profile, particularly after his contribution to Villa’s run to the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals during his temporary spell in the second half of the campaign.
Al Ahli’s pursuit of the Frenchman of Congolese descent comes amid the club’s ambition to reinforce its backline with high-calibre international talent.
Disasi remains under contract with Chelsea, having joined the Blues from AS Monaco in the summer of 2023. He has demonstrated his versatility by operating both as a central defender and as a right-back.
Following his return from loan, Disasi has drawn serious interest from both Al Ahli and Newcastle, with further offers expected to emerge as the transfer window progresses.
His next destination remains uncertain, but the growing competition for his services suggests Chelsea may have multiple options to consider.
