Moroccan teenager Abdellah Ouazane catches eye as Madrid follow Ajax prospect

Real Madrid are keeping a close watch on highly rated Ajax prospect Abdellah Ouazane, with the 17-year-old midfielder earning praise after an eye-catching performance for Jong Ajax.

The teenager, who recently turned 17, has been highlighted as one of the club’s most promising young players.

Former Dutch footballer and television analyst Hans Kraay Jr. spoke highly of the midfielder during the programme Goedemorgen Eredivisie, saying he had been particularly impressed by Ouazane’s performance in a recent match.

Kraay pointed to the youngster’s display on Friday evening when Jong Ajax faced FC Den Bosch. The match ended in a 3-2 victory for the Amsterdam side, but it began in difficult fashion after they conceded in the opening minute.

Ouazane helped shift the momentum not long afterwards. Fourteen minutes into the game, the midfielder produced a moment of individual quality by beating two opponents before sending a precise effort into the far corner of the goal.

His display caught the attention of Kraay, who said the teenager possesses the qualities required to develop into a top player.

“I’m a big fan of Abdellah Ouazane, who just turned seventeen. This boy has everything going for him, and it’s no surprise that Real Madrid have been following him for some time.”

The analyst later continued to analyse the moment that led to the goal, explaining the circumstances surrounding the play.

“The ball was under him ,” Kraay Jr. continued. “So I explained to Pascal Kamperman on Friday’s show that the ball was under him and therefore he couldn’t clear it backwards.”

During the discussion, Kraay initially compared the move to the type of goal once scored by Brazilian forward Romário, although he later clarified his remark.

Speaking again on Sunday morning, the Dutch pundit emphasised that the comparison should not be taken too far.

“Romario also scored many goals in that manner, without any setbacks. Pascal will probably accuse me of comparing him to Romario again, but that’s absolutely not the case.”

Ouazane’s performance has further strengthened his reputation as one of the emerging talents within the Ajax system.

With interest reportedly coming from Real Madrid, the young midfielder’s development is likely to continue attracting attention in the months ahead.
