Ahmed Refaat, the Modern Future star, has made his first appearance since his sudden collapse at Alexandria Stadium towards the end of the Union Alexandria match in the league, due to a heart muscle stoppage.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports shared photos of Dr. Ashraf Sobhi (Minister of Sports) visiting Ahmed Refaat in one of the hospitals in Cairo, to inquire about his health condition.
Ashraf Sobhi expressed his relief after speaking with the player and being briefed on Refaat’s health status.
The Minister of Youth and Sports expressed his sincere wishes for Ahmed Refaat’s speedy recovery, hoping he would overcome this health crisis soon and return to the field after recovery.
He emphasized that several measures had been taken following Refaat’s sudden collapse, including holding a meeting with the High Medical Committee for Athlete Care at the ministry’s headquarters to discuss mechanisms to prevent sudden death and heart diseases.
He stressed that steps would be taken in the future, including providing advanced medical equipment in stadiums for all sports, training medical teams in clubs and national teams to use them, and implementing direct insurance within the Egyptian sports system.
Sobhi revealed plans to hold an extensive conference in the near future, bringing together a large group of medical and sports experts to raise awareness among athletes about the medical and health risks they may face during sports activities.
