Al-Ahly midfielder Ahmed Nabil Kouka will miss the upcoming showdown against Al-Hilal of Sudan in the CAF Champions League quarterfinals, set for Tuesday night.
The club’s technical staff made the call to leave him out of the first-leg lineup, a decision that raised eyebrows after Kouka slipped away from the team’s 48-hour training camp without explanation.
A source close to the club spilled the details to Kooora, revealing that Kouka’s absence stems from a muscle strain picked up during his recent stint with Egypt’s national team in a 2026 World Cup qualifier against Sierra Leone.
The insider shared, “Koka will undergo a medical examination tomorrow to determine his fitness for the return match against Al-Hilal, which will be held on April 8 in Mauritania.”
For now, the midfielder is grinding through rehab at Mokhtar El-Tetsh Stadium. “Koka is continuing his rehabilitation program to ensure he is fit for Al-Ahly’s upcoming matches,” the source added.
Fans are holding their breath, hoping their star can bounce back soon.
