Egyptian international Ahmed Mostafa Zizo has revealed that he rebuffed overtures from several clubs to join giants Al Ahly.

The 29-year-old recently joined Al Ahly, signing a contract that will keep him at the club until 2030 after ending his stint with Zamalek.

Zizo sparked a lot of controversy in Egyptian after switching to join Zamalek’s sworn-rivals this summer.

But the former Zamalek star has disclosed he rejected bumper offers to join Al Ahly as he seeks to make history with the club.

“I am very happy and excited to play my first match wearing the Al Ahly shirt, and I feel very passionate about starting this new challenge with the team.”

“The negotiations with Al-Ahly were very positive, and I am currently fully focused on my work on the field. I have not been affected by any pressure during the past period, and I am very excited to wear the Al-Ahly shirt.”

He continued, “I had many offers for large sums of money, but I chose Al-Ahly because I wanted to write a new history and achieve championships and popularity inside and outside Africa, which made Al-Ahly the best choice for me.”

“My father’s role in my joining Al-Ahly? Any father would wish to see his son in the best place and see him as the best in the world, and he has helped me a lot over the past period.”

“I am happy with the support of the Al-Ahly fans, and the reaction to the news of my transfer to the team made me feel very excited. I believe that the size of Al-Ahly’s fan base and its identity was clearly demonstrated through the viewership and interaction with the videos of me joining the team. My reaching this record number was thanks to the Al-Ahly fans, whom I hope to make happy in general.”

He added, “Anyone who wants to succeed and make history would naturally choose Al-Ahly, and I am very happy with this step.”
