The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially enlisted four football legends into its newly established Ambassadors of CAF program.

The first quartet includes Egypt’s former national team captain Ahmed Hassan, Senegal’s El Hadji Diouf, Ghana’s Asamoah Gyan, and Nigeria’s Jay-Jay Okocha.

CAF revealed that the Ambassadors of CAF program aims to incorporate more football legends in Cairo for community roles and to promote African football and CAF.

The ambassadors are expected to contribute to various activities, including tournaments and charitable initiatives.

The selection of the four legends was based on their athletic and professional achievements, social impact, and commercial value, as stated in CAF’s official announcement.

Ahmed Hassan, one of the most decorated players in the history of African football, clinched four Africa Cup of Nations titles with the Egyptian national team.

Diouf, the Senegalese star, twice earned the title of Africa’s Best Player and played a crucial role in Senegal’s golden era, reaching the quarter-finals of the World Cup and the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Okocha, a key figure in Nigeria’s football history, secured the Africa Cup of Nations in 1994 and claimed Olympic gold in Atlanta ’96.

Asamoah Gyan, Ghana’s prolific goal-scorer, participated in seven Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, reaching the finals in 2010 and 2015, and represented Ghana in three World Cups, becoming Africa’s top scorer in the tournament.

CAF has hinted at further announcements, indicating that more names will be added to the Ambassador program in the near future.
