Ahmed Abdel Kader’s dream of playing in the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup could be slipping away after suffering a back muscle injury while on loan in Qatar.
The talented winger, who joined a Qatari club on a season-long loan from Al Ahly, was contacted by the Cairo giants’ medical team on Wednesday after news of the injury surfaced. Early signs suggest a muscle tear that may cut his loan spell short.
A club insider told Kooora that Ahmed Abdel Kader informed the medical team about the severity of the issue. He is expected to return to Egypt soon, where Al Ahly’s medical staff will carry out a full assessment to see if he can recover in time for the Club World Cup, set to begin in less than two months in the United States.
“If this injury is confirmed, Abdelkader can follow a rehabilitation programme to try to join the tournament, if the coaching staff needs him.”
Abdelkader’s loan deal included no option to buy, underlining Al Ahly’s belief in his future at the club.
