Ahly scouts Ghanaian talents in friendly matches ahead of final assessment

The Al Ahly youth sector officials are closely monitoring the performance of the five Ghanaian players currently undergoing a trial period with the U-17 and U-19 teams in the first team.

This scrutiny aims to make a final judgment on their skills and select the best among them to join the Red Team, registering them in one of the youth squads.

The evaluation process involves their participation in several friendly matches to ensure a comprehensive assessment.

Under the supervision of Badr Ragab, the head coach of the youth sector, and his deputy, Mohamed Shoukry, the Ghanaian quintet is being observed closely before a final decision is made regarding their potential.

Notably, attention has been drawn to a player excelling in the striker position, showcasing physical strength, precise direct shots on goal, and proficiency in heading.

There is an agreement between Al Ahly’s scouting committee and the Ghanaian academies responsible for these players to secure their services for an agreed-upon financial arrangement.

In a related development, Marcel Koller, the head coach of Al Ahly, intends to provide opportunities for several young players who were brought in during the UAE training camp.

This initiative aims to compensate for the numerous absences in the squad due to the presence of 11 players in the national teams participating in the Africa Cup of Nations in Côte d’Ivoire, in addition to the absence of six players due to injuries.

Marcel Koller plans to offer playing time to individuals who haven’t had sufficient chances since the beginning of the current season, such as Tunisian Mohammed Daoue Cristo, Anthony Modeste, Akram Tawfik, Karim Fouad, Taha Mohamed Taha, Rami Rabia, Khaled Abdel Fattah, Karim Nedved, and Amr El Solia.

The coaching staff has also brought along nine promising young players, including Youssef Abdel Hafeez, Ahmed Abdeen, Abdul Rahman Khalid, Islam Abdullah, Abdul Rahman Abdel Gawad, Mazen Osama, Moataz Mohamed, Mustafa Abu Al-Khair, and Ahmed Taima.
